Character Flaws
imperfections are more than just on the outside

I've been looking further into my research of imperfections and found that personality flaws count as imperfections, these can consist of traits such as jealousy, arrogance...etc. but a major flaw is addiction, so i decided to look more into this and met up with people who have an addiction to smoking weed, my idea was to ask how they felt about it as an imperfection and whether they try to cover it up.

I photographed the experience and tried to capture their personality, here some of the outcomes

Covering up your imperfections

With my research I've found that covering up your imperfections is a common thing to do, whether its using concellor to cover up that blemish or wearing an expensive watch to hide something else...

I found a few images on Pinterest where the model id covering up there face with their hands
So i decided to have a go myself using a model and a Lightroom.
these are some of the outcomes

Imperfections

My recent research into imperfections has taken me through a lot of different ideas to what imperfections really are.  Freckles, stretch marks, pale skin are some of many perceived by others(mostly the media) as imperfections. SO why is that these things are classed as 'imperfections', something that isn't perfect. Shouldn't we start embracing our imperfections instead of covering them up; because at the end of the day they are what makes us different, unique, special.

I've found an interesting world of Japanese Art called WABI-SABI. It concentrates on finding beauty in imperfections, it celebrates the fact we all have cracks and crevices and other marks. Looking at this type of view made me think why aren't we doing this! Celebrating our imperfections instead of covering them.

So what im trying to do with my final major project is to create a brand of awareness of this type of art and the way of thinking.
